The curbweight is around 2800lbs, so it isn't too much of a porker. Interior is comfortable and enough room for me to be reasonably comfortable in the back seat (I'm 6'1" with long legs) while the front seat was still adjusted for me. Also, the mazdaspeed doesn't have anything along the lines of vtec, so its sweet spot is 3k-5k, below that and it feels weak, above and it feels flat, but it was still fun to drive. However redline was just above 6k and it zipped through the gears fairly quick. The gearbox was very similar to the d16y8/z6 gearbox. It also had decent spacing of gears on the tranny. The car is extremely weak off the line but comes to life quickly once you get to around 3k rpms. The car has a t25 turbo on either a 1.8 or 2.0L engine. #Mazdaspeed protege car cover forum fullFrom what I was told, this car had full urethane bushings, so there were a few rattles, but nothing major. With a little suspension tweaking this car would be very fun in the twisties. You could feel the factory LSD kicking in and the car was quite solid through the turns. The car needed some alignment tweaking so I couldn't get on it quite like I wanted, but it handled the curves quite well. This car had upgraded front/rear sways so even though it sat high, body roll wasn't bad at all. The stance is a little high and definately noticeable over a mildly dropped civic. Very similar to my 98 civic ex w/carbotech bobcats. Clutch pedal pressure was good and so were brakes. Its very short shift knob made for slightly notchy shifting, but no big deal. It had a nice stance, 17" racing harts standard, seats had good side support and could hold you in. It was one of the limited edition blue ones (like si blue). I got the chance to drive a mazdaspeed protege a few weeks back.
